MILNE BAY CONTACTS
Most people that have visited Alotau, Milne Bay's provincial capital in the past will have stayed at, spent an evening at the bar/restaurant or at least heard of Napatana Lodge.
The staff that are employed here are always only too happy to assist with any inquiry. Many of the village stays can be booked through Napatana.
If your next visit to Milne Bay is your first, then make sure you at least spend one night here.

HILLTOP GUEST HOUSE
These guesthouses. perched on top of a hill have an amazing view of the surrounding countryside.
Owned and run by the
mission located in Siasiada Village, Sagarai Valley in southern Milne Bay.
Proceeds go towards funding the School of Destiny. Pastor Douglas Pitoni, his staff and volunteers work extremely hard to better educate pre school children, allowing them a much needed head-start for the government education system.
Bookings can be made through Enoch Bulunamur.
If birding or just visiting the Sagarai Valley area and require a guide, then this is the man to chase up.
Enoch's background in forestry, gives him a great understanding of the environment and his eagerness to learn is very evident in his ability to locate target wildlife.

SIBONAI GUEST HOUSE
Located at the eastern end of the beautiful Sewa Bay on Normanby Island is this wonderful village guesthouse.
Waiyaki, his wife Jena and their friends will prove to be wonderful hosts. The visitor facilities are constantly being upgraded, to make your stay a very memorable one. It's location on the bay is only further highlighted by the river that flows just behind the accommodation and the rainforest that surrounds it.
For the birders and wildlife lovers, this is the spot to be.
Allow Waiyaki to introduce you to the wildlife and great people that are part of his world.
If the DÉntrecasteaux Islands are on your itinerary, then you must get in touch with Waiyaki. Waiyaki and his family live in Sibonai on Normanby Island and he has been guiding, with particularly bird and reptile people for a number of years now.
Being a local resident, he can arrange accommodation and transport to locations further afield.

DÉNTRECASTEAUX ISLANDS ATTRACTIONS
The Kula Circle is a ritualized trading culture that exists within the Milne Bay islands.
Allow Kevin and Steven to explain this fascinating tradition and the significance of the Mwali (Armband), Soulava (Shell necklace) and the Kula Canoes. Even though this tradition is well written about and the canoes can be seen at the annual National Canoe and Kundu Drum Festival, there is something very special about sitting in a village listening to people that are actually involved, tell the history and meaning of this possibly 2000 year old practice.
Arrangements to visit can be made through either Waiyaki Nemani of Sibonai or through Gomwa Eco Guest House.
Should you wish to visit the Louisiade Archipelago area of Milne Bay, then Pala should be your first port of call.
Living in Bwagaoia on Misima Island, he has all the required local contacts to organize excursions out into the remaining islands of this rather remote area.
